awesome things for 2/11/09
  • Amelia Bloomer List – 2009 and 2009 Rainbow List. What titles have you read? I am sadly behind.
  • A Chair, A Fireplace & A Tea Cozy reviews The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan. I want to get my paws on this book like burning since it was compared to World War Z.
  • AfterElton’s 50 Best Gay Books!: Alex Sanchez and David Levithan made the list. I think I am going to give the Rainbow Boys trilogy by Sanchez a try. My library has all of them.
  • Not YA/book related, but still awesome: Barack Obama riding a unicorn. I want this shirt, guys! SO BAD.
  • Nymeth is on Twitter! You’re asking, “Renay, why is this so exciting? Why are you mentioning it?” The answer is that Nymeth is one of my favorite reviewers, that’s why, and you should be following her. I know one day some of her awesome is going to rub off on me. THE FACTS: It’s always Nymeth Appreciation Day around these parts.
  • A.S. King talks about indie affiliate programs, like Amazon Associates but less The Man beneficial. This was really useful for me, since I had no clue this was possible with anyone but Amazon. Perhaps it will be handy information for someone else!
  • John Green answers Paper Towns questions. I keep meaning to ask him what he thinks of a An Abundance of Katherines/The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks crossover in which Colin and Frankie are awesome and have adventures and maybe make out a little, but I always forget. For instance, right after I post this I will forget to go over to the Ning and paste the question in. Guaranteed.
  • Reviews I bookmarked today:

As always, you can follow things I’m saving and reading via delicious.com/yafab and the what a kick ass party! feed.

Hey, it’s always Nymeth Appreciation Day around here, too!

And that shirt is so awesome…now you’ve got me coveting, too.

Ooh, ooh, ooh, and thanks for the books lists links. New book lists to print out, ah, it just leaves me giddy! And it looks like there’s a lot a fabulous reads on them that I’ve never heard of before.

Thanks…this post was just pure wonderful!

@ Debi Aren’t lists of books awesome? I always save them because I heart them so, but I am EPIC FAIL at reading stuff off of them. It’s like they’re just pretty to look at. :D

Hi!
Thanks for making us an awesome thing for YA Fabulous! BTW, the introduction for the Amelia Bloomer List has been corrected- an earlier draft popped up on the blog, not the final approved one, but it’s fixed now.

Lists! I love lists. I’ve read a sad total of zero from the Rainbow list, but sooner or later I shall amend that. And I actually own some of the books on the 50 Best Gay Books list..now I just need to actually read them.

@ Nymeth I have read Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List and What They Always Tell Us, both of which I loved a lot. I have a review of the latter coming up, but it’s my segment for The Read Carpet so it won’t be up until after the podcast airs.

Otherwise, I need to catch up. >.>

@ C Gibrich Oh! Okay, that makes sense. I will go edit my post!

Thanks for the list, by the way, it is pretty awesome. I plan to use it for nefarious purposes, like getting all my friends to read Frankie. Once I hit critical mass on all the lists, surely they’ll give in!

Thanks! We’re pretty proud of it! We do take field submissions for the next list (ones where non committee people recommend, and then we take a look at) and we’ll post when we’re ready, so find your fav books! Rainbows does the same (I’m co-chair of Bloomers and support for Rainbow, so double duty!)…
