We’re sorry, this post is in another castle.

*Gasp* This is one of my favorite videos from one of my favorite youtubers. It’s so odd how I was just worrying about people accusing the publishing company of being racist and drifting away from the subject at hand, what they did.

@Tashi I worry about it, too. I think this video really clarifies something white people need to pay attention to because in many situations we think we’re helping but we’re actually making it worse, which is why usually during race discussions I sit down, shut up and listen.
This is really out of character for me. >>
Awesome post and video. I agree wholeheartedly with your post. Bloomsbury helped in a way, by really setting off a discussion in the blogging world. But honestly, I haven’t seen much response from white YA book bloggers (yours is one of the few). Where are they? I also liked your previous post. Keep it up! =)
@MissAttitude I really don’t know why more white YA bloggers haven’t spoken up about this. I don’t usually speak up in discussions of race because I’m white and pretty ignorant. I tend to listen, but the lack of outcry from the people at which this book is marketed to is alarming.
I know it’s not cool to use guilt, but boy, I’ve seen this point on tons of Waiting on Wednesday posts. Where are they, indeed.
Totally right – it doesn’t make any difference how nice these people are. You can’t offset big mistakes with a good personality, that’s just not how it works.
You should put this on Twitter. I’ve never heard it before and It was spot-on. I usually listen to these conversations and move on. Not because I’m white, because I’m black and live and work in predominately, read theres me and maybe 1 or 2 others, white areas. I don’t want to “appear” as a racist. But what I’m doing is being racist. Against myself and my child! I needed this video.
Thanks so much for this post and for sharing that awesome video! I just shared the video on Twitter. :o)
